For hikes
This list is a suggestion for a personal checklist for hikers. Some items may be shared within small groups. Adjust according to weather, terrain and participants.
- Hiking boots (we recommend boots with good ankle support, NOT trail shoes)
- Hiking socks (wool or synthetic – NOT cotton) + extra pair
- Insulating 1st layer (i.e. wool, fleece etc. – NOT cotton)
- Insulating 2nd layer (i.e. fleece jacket and hiking trousers – NOT jeans)
- Water- and windproof 3rd layer (i.e. two or three layer jacket and trousers)
- Warm gloves + extra pair
- Hat/cap/buff
- Sunglasses + sunscreen + mosquito net
- Map + compass (+ GPS if desired)
- Packed meals and water (as well as stove/fuel/tableware/cookingware if needed)
- First aid kit for sprains, cuts and burns
- Extra clothes (?)
- Optional: Camera, binoculars, knife/multitool, walking poles, whistle
- Backpack
- Add if overnight in cabin: Sleeping bag, toothbrush, toothpaste
- Add if overnight in tent: Sleeping bag, mat, toothbrush, toothpaste
- Add if going to pool/natural bath: Swimwear, towel

This list is a suggestion for a leaders’ checklist for planning an international group travel. Check with your organization if they have a different checklist, and/or what rules apply. Adjust according to size of group, age of participants and destination country/ies.
